bio
Described by the New York City Jazz Records as "one of the most adventurous bassists on the scene” and by the Chicago Reader “genius for sound exploration” Franco-German bassist and composer Pascal Niggenkemper creates music bluring the linesbetween improvised, pure sound, and experimental music with adistinct musical language infused with new bass techniques.
Living in Strasbourg since 2023, he began his musical journey by learning violin and piano before switching to double bass. In 1999 he moved to Cologne and studied jazz and classical double bass at the Hochschule für Musik Köln.
From 2005 to 2016 Pascal makes his home in New York, where he actively participates in the creative music scene. With a DAAD scholarship, he studied at the Manhattan School of Music, where he obtained his ʻmaster of music performanceʼ.
